Ameican Idol 9 - The First Elimination Losers

Wednesday night was the first elimination show for season 9 of American Idol. Does anyone else feel the show is a little…dull this year? That’s the Internet buzz. And the Internet is all that matters. Maybe they should try to get Adam Lambert to make out with Ke$ha again on camera, it would at least give them something to talk about.

After 8 seasons, it’s probably difficult to come up with exciting ways to give us the results. How about going “Survivor” style? Whoever actually gets dropped on a deserted island rather than the set of “Lost” is eliminated. And then we get to figure out who has real foot long insects and who just has the fake ones. Maybe they don’t need to go that far, but it would be something different.

If you haven’t checked your TiVo yet, you’ll probably want to stop reading now. This is some filler text so your eyes aren’t drawn to the name that is about to be typed below. The next paragraph will have the elimination results.

Eliminated girls were …

The first girl to be eliminated was Janell Wheeler. This was probably an accurate decision, as no one even remembered who Janell Wheeler was. But she will now forever be that blonde girl who kept insincerely acting sad as her microphone volume was slowly decreased.

Didi Benami and Ashley Rodriguez were the final two girls to be given their results. It was clear Didi was regretting wearing the carpet-rug-dress-thing during her previous performance, and who wants to go out like that? Fortunately for her, she will get another chance. Ashley Rodriguez was sent home.

It’s all a little bitter sweet for Ashley. The song she sang was Leona Lewis’ “Happy.” Though, she was very tactful during her interview. The song title coupled with her skintight skinny jeans down to her madden shoessteve madden knock offs pretty much sealed the deal that she wouldn’t be sitting back down. She couldn't if she wanted to.

The loser guys kicked out were …

As for the guys, poor Joe Munoz was the first to go. He seemed genuine, and just never got a chance. Rocker wannabe Tyler Grady was the other guy eliminated, and blamed his failure on poor constructive criticism from the judges. Yeah, Tyler, it definitely had nothing to do with singing a Lenny Kravitz song. You’re right.

The rest of the show featured a snooze fest performance from last year’s winner, Kris Allen. He’s the guy who’s been popping up in Ford ads, if you didn’t know. Past Idol contestant Allison Iraheta also sang a song and gave several indistinguishable responses to Ryan Seacrest in a small interview.

Maybe next week will be better.
